More than a fifth of the world’s plant populations are at risk.
The video below gives insight to the what and why of our dwindling plant world, and how important it is that we keep it from happening. Plants are the backbone of life on earth, and not only do we need to preserve the plants themselves for oxygen, food, fuel and medicine, we need to preserve the habitats in which they grow.
Included in the interview are:
- Colin Clubbe – Head of conservation science at the Royal Botanic Gardens
- Maximilian Weigend – Professor of plant biodiversity at Bonn University
- Susan Leopold – Executive director of United Plant Savers
After you watch the video head over to Ohio based United Plant Savers and see what they are doing to save native North American medicinal plants.
